Why, given all this theoretical information you’ve taken in, do you think that the example you offer epitomizes popular culture
This is a FINAL ESSAY
“Why, given all this theoretical information you’ve taken in, do you think that the example you offer epitomizes “popular culture” as we have presented that concept in this class?”
Your goal to provide the ultimate popular culture example/artifact. In my case, please choose an artifact and confirm it with me.
(like modern tv, toys, tv, movies….)
\”Why, given all this theoretical information you\’ve taken in, do you think that the example you offer epitomizes \’popular culture\’ as we have presented that concept in this class?\” In answering this question, please use a controlling example of Popular Culture (aka a popular culture artifact) that is significant to you and use 2 of the articles (or the other comparable sources listed in the Final Exam prompt) that you have summarized and evaluated in the weekly modules to explain how your controlling example reflects the ideas you\’ve been reading about throughout the term. Note: A Controlling example means an example that can be used to evaluate the theme(s) or concepts in the readings. It is also an example that you can analyze with the help of key terms or concepts from the readings. So, for example, if you are interested in language and identity, you might use as a controlling example a popular phrase or saying from your language community (it could be English or another language) in order to explore how it resonates with themes from two of the readings from the Reader that are relevant to this particular topic of language and identity. Note that this is just an example—you can select any theme/topic that has resonated with you most this term and write about that. Just make sure that you have selected two relevant readings and that your popular culture controlling example is pertinent to the theme.
Sources to use: 2 secondary sources (these can be two of the essays from the Broadview Reader that you have read or you can also draw on one or more of the readings in the Suggested Complementary Readings List that Professor Dillon has appended to the Final Exam essay prompt).
Style Guide to use: Cite the sources you use in MLA format. Below are some useful links, also available on our Mentored Inquiry course site on D2L under Content. Scroll down to the Final Exam Preparation module
You should connect the essays you are discussing to a popular culture example that can be drawn from your own experience–so yes, in that sense it can have a personal dimension. The balance of summary of the content of the articles you choose to discuss and evaluation/analysis of key ideas in the articles via your own example should be roughly the same as for the weekly posts. So in that sense, yes this would be a longer \”post\” except that it should have a clearer \”paper\” like structure.
we need to discuss and argue why our example is the epitome of popular culture. How it shapes, and forms identities, and help character development. Here are specific requirements:

The Final Exam response should aim for 1,000 words.
Include a modest research element in the Final Exam. You will be asked to incorporate your reading of Two secondary sources. Certainly, you also can use other secondary sources that you discover on your own if you wish. But to be clear: the essays you chose to summarize and evaluate starting with Module 3 are viable candidates for the research component of your Final Exam with no other \”searching\” necessary.
For simplicity\’s sake, let\’s use MLA style guide. (If you want to use something else, talk to me; all will be well!) Here are the Purdue OWL specs on MLA style guide: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html
