In the 1982 movie Sophie’s Choice, Sophie is sent to Auschwitz, where upon her arrival she is forced to choose which one of her two children would be gassed and which would proceed to the labor camp. To avoid having both children killed, she chose her son to be sent to the children’s camp, and her daughter to be sent to her death in crematorium. If you were placed in a similar situation what choice would you make? And, based on your understanding from your readings on moral reasoning what philosophy are you using to decide?
