Literary Analysis of Susan Glaspell’s Trifles
Must be no less than 6 but not more than 8 double-spaced pages of literary analysis. Your works cited page is not counted as part of the 6-8 pages of writing.
Use proper MLA formatting and documentation with a works cited page. Use 12 Point Times New Roman font only.
Cite at least three (3) secondary sources in addition to your primary text. These sources should be scholarly sources of literary criticism that you locate using the library catalog and databases. Incorporate your quotes properly by introducing them. Quotes cannot stand by themselves. You may use more than 3 sources if you like.
Do not use un-authored web sites, student essays, or online blog sites. These are NOT scholarly sources. Points will be lost if you do not use academic sources.
Focus on the text, not on the author’s life or intentions. Analyze things like symbols and structure rather than making assumptions about how the text connects to the author’s real life. The exception to this is the fact that Ibsen purposely wrote about social issues. However, focus on how” he presents his ideas via symbolism, irony, setting etc.
