VSEPR Theory
VSEPR is a theory that suggest that it is the repulsion between a pair of electrons present in the central atom’s valence shell that solely determine the geometric alignment for terminal atoms or atom groups bound in a central atom found in covalent compounds. Linear, trigonal planar, tetrahedral, trigonal Bipyramidal and octahedral are the most important geometric pair of electrons. The arrangement of valence electrons contributes largely in the ultimate shape of the electrons (Helmenstine, 2013).
