Reading strategies
After studying the active reading strategies described in Chapter 2 of Essentials of College Writing, read Chapters 1 and 2 and the “Instructor Guidance” for Week One, apply the Survey-Question-Read-Recite-
Your initial post must be 200 words in length and posted by Day 3. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. What have you learned as a result of reading about your peers’ experiences? Are they similar to yours or different? Did someone else’s experience inform your own experience? Share your thoughts. Response posts must be 125 to 200 words in length. If you have questions about how to participate in discussions, consult “About Discussions” under the Course Home menu. You are not required to support your claims with additional scholarly materials; however, should you decide to use additional sources, make sure you properly cite any references.

The Survey-Question-Read-Read-Recite reading strategy is very different from my previous reading strategies. Previously, I used to take approximately 3 seconds in reading the topic. To make matters worse I never used to read the introductory and the conclusion paragraphs. According to my previous beliefs, reading subtitles and analyzing was a waste of time. After reading them, I never tried to convert them into questions, as I rarely understood them. Once I read the chapter, I just waited…………..
