The Acropolis rock is considered part of a Cretaceous rock which cuts across the Attica Plateau in the southwest and northeast axis. The areas covered by this rock include; Philopappos,     Likavitos and Pnyx hills. This rock is believed to rise to about 70 meters above the sea level and has a flat top of 150 meters wide and 300 meters long. The flat top is as a result of a lot of landfills resulting from the construction of temples and fortifications since the era of Mycenaean.
