Feeding an infant has its challenges. Some say feeding an infant formula is much easier, although research has shown that breast feeding is the best way to nourish a baby. Refer back to your readings in your text Health Safety and Nutrition for the Young Child, Chapter 16, to answer the following questions.

What are some advantages of using breast milk and formula? Why?

Share some common food allergies. What are at least three important steps for Early Childhood educators to do to keep these children safe?

As stated by Klossner (2006), new mothers are faced with a challenge of establishing the most appropriate method of feeding a newborn baby. Determining whether a newborn baby should be fed on formula milk or breast milk is a personal decision that a mother should make before the baby is born.  Regardless of the fact that breast milk is considered the best nutrition, there are instances where a mother may be forced to feed the infant with formula milk.
