Response 1: Explain any weaknesses of your research proposal/project that you identified during the Week 1 Written Assignment
Within the week 1 assignment, I identified 3 problem areas for the mental health service I oversee, as well as identified subproblems that contributed to it. Being that this service requires multiple components and has governing requirements from at least two or more entities, it is expected to have “problems within problems”. This created a weakness for my overall research question and resolve that I needed to create. Because there where are so many avenues of problems and created different nuances, my research question was not clear and would be at best, too broad. Directly following this weakness, this made it difficult for me to guide my arguments back to the research question in order to strengthen my paper because simply put, it was all over the place which prevents me from creating conclusions. One of the difficult things about having a lot of detailed information is that it is not tailored to the overall point of the paper. Another weakness was the lack of documentation on the service itself

Amongst going through rounds and rounds of tutoring, I first had to start with creating a clear research question. This was created by talking about the listed problems and making them more clear to understand. Once they were clear, it was easy to see the overall theme of my research problem was based around effective and consistent care. Establishing the research question made it possible to narrow down exactly what I wanted to convey in the problems and subproblems. Each argument should state the issue at hand but answer the question in order to keep my paper on track. Finding additional documentation was easier since my arguments were more concise in opened up the door to find articles specifically to a problem rather than the entire service itself
