Does the model have the essential elements and principles of RTI?
Which of the three RTI models does the school’s model represent?
Interview a teacher or administrator from the school that uses the model you have evaluated. Consider asking the following questions:
How was this model developed at your school?
Who was involved in its development?
In your opinion, is this model effective?
In your opinion, how could this model be improved?
Are benefits of the RTI model represented in the performance of your students?
What role does your administrator play in the school’s RTI program?
What RTI resources are available from your central office and how can they be accessed by an administrator?
How is your school’s RTI program integrated with your school’s professional learning community (PLC)?
Imagine you are the principal of the school that uses this RTI model. Based on your initial evaluation and your interview with a teacher or administrator, consider the following questions:
What improvements would you suggest for the school’s RTI model?
What steps would you take to begin the improvement process?
Who would you involve in the improvement process?
