3D PROJECT,
If you have nothing in your home to make a 3D Project, you might try mixing a kind of homemade play dough. To make this play dough you need the following ingredients for a DYI recipe. (DYI, Do it yourself)
From the Vicksburg Evening Post 12/12/1979 by Laurin Stamm Food Editor
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of salt
¾ to 1 cup of water
Combine flour and salt and add water gradually stirring to form a ball of dough. Use your hands when necessary, and if the dough seems too dry, add a bit more water. If it gets too sticky, ad. A little flour. If you want the dough to have a toasty color, dissolve a spoonful of instant coffee in the warm water.
Place the ball of dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for 7-10 minutes or until smooth and firm The dough should be quite dry when rolled out as it is easier to work with. If you are not going to use the dough immediately, cover it with plastic wrap or put it in a plastic bag to refrigerate until ready to use. This keeps the dough moist and workable.
Always work on a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking. To start it is wise to keep everything simple using cookie cutters for making the various shapes. Break off a chunk of dough, roll it out to a ¼ inch thickness or slightly less, and cut out several shapes.
It is very important to make a hole at the top of every ornament—an opening for a string or ribbon hanger. Do this before baking.
Drying
Using a wide spatula or pancake turner to lift the ornaments onto the wax paper covered cardboard on which this will cook.
This is placed on the glass tray of your microwave on medium-low for 3-5 minutes or until the ornaments are dry. The thicker the dough the longer it takes. But microwaving time is short compared to drying in a conventional oven which takes 30-60 minutes.
I hope you have some colors or food dyes at home. Plain old dough will not be very interesting so have a plan if you are going to make play dough at home. It could be fun.
Have a great day,
