Every great religion may have several ways of formulating, evaluating, and perpetuating religious truth.

For Buddhism, the path to truth is that of mystical intuition and elevation of consciousness.

Mysticism refers to the belief in the existence of deities and supreme beings. Revelation on the other hand refers to acquiring more knowledge about something which may not have been realized in a normal circumstance. It is literally referred to as opening of the eyes. The two are beliefs in religion and the believers lead and live their lives based on the teachings of these beliefs (Wierenga, 2005). It is what shapes the behaviors and the characters of the believers.
