MLA Commentary Source Dialogue

For your MLA Commentary, you will be asked to engage in meta-discourse, or placing your sources into conversation. In your high school classes, your teachers may have referred to this as “synthesis.” This is a skill that requires critical thinking, patience, and close reading. For this project, you will take four sources and create a chart that will help you pinpoint the key issues of your topic and differentiate one source from another. I will walk you through how to do this in class.

MLA Commentary: Your first formal writing assignment will be a short 3-5 page Commentary on an issue you think is important in the 2016 Election. This paper should include at least four sources. This assignment will allow us to discuss strategies for effectively integrating outside sources into your own writing and addressing counterargument.
