Background Information

            Over 442 million people are living with diabetes globally. These figures are according to the latest world health organization data released to the public in 2016. This is an increase from the 321 people who lived with diabetes in 2013. The over 30% increase of this condition is attributed to the developed countries where many people are living with diabetes. In America for example, over 30 million people are living with diabetes (Litwin, et al., 2004). This is shocking because clearly this figure makes up about 10% of the American population.
