Campaign strategies

            In both the 2004 and 2012 presidential elections, the challenger, John Kerry in 2004 and Mitt Romney in 2012 was confident of victory. This led to the incumbents in both cases to use barrage of negative advertisements aimed at tarnishing the image of the opponents. At the same time, each candidates depended on specific states for victory. For instance, President Obama relied heavily on states like Ohio and California which eventually gave him victory at the end of the day.
