Substance Abuse Group Counseling
At the community mental health center several Borderline Personality Disordered (BPD) clients have been utilizing the crisis unit with increasing frequency. They have been doing self-mutilating activities but are not suicidal; instead using it to get attention. You need to intervene to reduce the use of those services. The goal is to reduce costs of crisis intervention services for 7 clients in the center. The director is unsure of which type of group therapy should be used in this situation and wants your suggestions.

The type of group I will create
Based on the needs of the 7 patients in the crisis intervention in the center, I would create a group therapy. This group guides patients through the process of gaining an insight not only about themselves, but also the world around them. Therefore, forming a therapy group would enable the 7 patients to foster hope besides examining the core issues that are likely to exacerbate their mental problems. This notion comes from the fact that human beings’ propensity to congregate leads to a therapy group being a key therapeutic tool for individuals……………………
