Article Summary:

The potential for abuse of state power is more in cases where the government enjoys exceptional authority over the citizens. Public safety should be put at the forefront in the drafting of policies that relate to federal corrections. Hence, correctional authorities need to advance their agenda focusing on law and order politics in favor of stiff and harsh punishments. Canada has had a decade of tough on crime policies.
